I'm not sure there's anyone who loves snow as much as this little girl does! It seems odd to post these photos while it's 85 degrees outside, but I still think they're so magical. They almost make me wish for snow. Almost.
I've been practicing Buti Yoga for about a year now and have absolutely fallen in love with the movement. Angee & Clara are two of my favorite teachers and I loved getting to capture some photos for their yoga portfolios. Both of them are such inspirational, positive teachers - be sure to look for their classes in the Medina area.
Newborn babies (especially little boys named Jacob!) are the sweetest, little things to grace this earth. I love how they scrunch their face in protest one minute but then smile in their sleep the next. And there's really nothing better than getting to spend time with a sweet little boy like this one on a rainy Saturday morning!
This family is one of my favorites! I'm biased though, since I grew up with this beautiful lady who is now the mama of not one, but TWO gorgeous girls! And how sweet is that banner in baby L's nursery?
These two are just theeeee cutest! They are two of the most animated little girls I've ever met and so fun to shoot. We headed over to the Prayers for Maria sunflower field on the sunniest of days to grab a few shots of these sweet sisters.
Ava is two! And had the sweetest little birthday party to celebrate! Her birthday happens to fall right around Derby time and so the party took place during the big race. How cute were the bubble wand favors for the kids?
Miss Ava was such a lady with her cupcake...requesting a spoon before she would dive in!
...and the party continues! Krista and Matt's reception was held at 78th Street Studios - a really awesome space that doubles as an art gallery. Every detail was perfect - right down to the beer bottles that Krista wrapped in twine to serve as their centerpieces.
I love weddings, but it's hard to be away from my family for such a long day in order to photograph them. But when amazing friends that are like family ask you to make an exception, you don't say no. Krista and Matt's day was just perfect! Krista made the most stunning bride, the ceremony was beautiful and the wedding party had a blast relaxing downtown at Brick and Barrel before the reception started.
Little girls dressed in pink, is there anything sweeter? These two little girls were a bundle of fun at their session - the look on the older sister's face when I said she could jump on the bed, just this once? Priceless.
This session also marks the first time I've tried my hand at making flower crowns - they came out so sweet and surprisingly were relatively easy to make! I did opt for fake flowers, so these little girls could enjoy them even after our session.
When it's ten below and the snow is falling, there really is no better way to escape the cold than to spend an afternoon at Burntwood Tavern celebrating a new little one! This shower was one of my favorites (I'm biased though, I helped plan it!), mainly because a hot chocolate bar was involved. Who doesn't love a steamy mug of cocoa with all the fixings?
i do not have a waddle, it's called a pregnancy swag [unknown]
Suzi might be one of the funniest and most adorable pregnant people out there. Her little one is due in March and since Suzi and Jon don't know the gender, their baby shower theme was 'baby it's cold outside'. Which made this wintery Sunday a perfect backdrop for her maternity session. Snowy drifts, icicles hanging from the windows and a light flurry in front of the most perfect barn door.
on the night you were born, the moon smiled with such wonder, that the stars peeked in to see you, and the night whispered, 'life will never be the same,' because there has never been anyone like you ever in the world. [nancy tillman]
The one thing that never fails to amaze me is how quickly babies change. Even in the matter of a couple weeks, suddenly they seem so grown-up! Luckily I was able to sneak in an at home session with Ava in addition to visiting her in the hospital.
Seeing her cuddled up with her mama and daddy, along with overprotective pup Bailey, was just the sweetest.
sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart [winnie the pooh]
Lauren and I have been friends since before we knew what friends were. Somedays I think I'm more excited about her being pregnant than I was about me (last year). There's something exhilarating about your friends reaching the same stage of life as you, whether through marriage or babies. They understand you, but now it's like, she GETS it. Now, she'll understand why I'm showing up to her house with sweet potatoes in my hair. She always laughs off my outfits and tells me I wear the food well. What a good friend.
Planning and photographing Lauren's shower was a dream come true. Plus, it gave me the perfect excuse to indulge in all things pink and girly for a day :)
a new baby is like the beginning of all things, wonder, hope and a dream of possibilities [eda j. leshan]
Karson was one sleepy babe during her session. But, really. Babies are just pure sweetness when they're all cuddled up, breathing heavily. And this one. Well, she is one of the sweetest girls, with the biggest, brightest blue eyes when they are open.
the moment a child is born, a mother is also born. she never existed before. the woman existed, but the mother, never. the mother is something absolutely new. [rajneesh]
You know that person that's like 'sorry boss, my friend had a baby. I've got to leave?' That was me. I think I made it through about two hours of work before high-tailing it over to the hospital to meet Lauren and Joe's new little one. Lauren actually took my son's hospital photos, so it was only fitting that I be the one taking hers.
Baby Ava, you are already so loved. And beautiful. With the most perfect fingernails that any newborn can have. You are definitely on your way to being a hand-model someday.
please let them be little, cause they're only that way for a while. give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day. [billy dean]
ONE! How could I possibly have a ONE year old? It's just crazy I tell you. But here he is, walking, talking and ready to attack his smash cake. I planned a family party full of whales, goldfish and plenty of blue and green. With little sand pails full of treats for him to give his little friends. He loved every moment - having all his favorite people in one room. This kid is just so blessed.
how do you spell love? [piglet]
you don't spell it, you feel it [winnie the pooh]
I thought my own pregnancy was the most exciting time of my life. And then one of my best friends spills the beans and my life is once again filled to the brim with unwavering excitement, tears and wonderment. And ice cream. I needed to be a supportive friend somehow, right?
Waiting for Lauren's daughter to make her arrival was a true test of my patience, but I promise, it was worth every minute. And getting to capture Lauren and Joe's excitement creating her nursery and spending their last days as a family of three (can't forget Bailey the pup!) was the icing on the cake.
